Back to Training

After the long trip back from Korea and a few days of rest, I'm back into training mode.  The jet lag had a bit of a delayed onset and yesterday and today I got really tired at odd times of day.  My trip back took 25 hours, started my stopwatch when I got in the taxi from the hotel and stopped it when I got out of the taxi at Riverhouse.  The trip involved a 30 minute taxi to a 2 hour bus ride through the hills of South Korea, a wait in the Busan airport, a 2 hour flight to Tokyo Narita, a 2 hour layover, a 12+ hour flight and then a taxi ride home from JFK.  Luckily, I "slept" for most of the long flight.  The only other non-asian person on my flight from Tokyo was the Chef Wylie Dufresne (he was on an episode of Top Chef--the egg quick fire challenge).  Unless you are desperate to collect ITU points, I wouldn't recommend traveling to that part Korea!

I'm really happy to be back to the USA and back to the routine.  We went out with our training partners for a celebration dinner last night in Tribeca.  It was so nice to finally have a full meal and as always fun it was fun to hang out with Bill, Rod & SJ.

We finally got a little break from the rain today and I took the opportunity to get out on my TT bike.  I did a circuit on some local roads (kleinkill/springtown) several times and am happy to report that I only touched my brakes going down the hill one time out of the 6 times I did the hill.  And, that was going into the hill at full speed.

For my transition run, I went up to the woods and discovered that it is poison ivy season.  It is also asparagus season, so I stopped at the CSA Farm at the end of my run and picked up my share of asparagus and also got to pick some spinach and cilantro.

Entertainment for the evening was watching the Ducks.  It was the Woods (Tiger & Elin) vs. the Mallards (first names TBD) again.  We also had a grey and white cat wandering around the front yard.
